all right are we ready yet we should be

ready in three two one

I think we’re alive Jeremy are you ready

yes I’m ready

I feel ready but I think I’m ready

audience are you guys ready are you

ready to check out what we have to

present today are we ready all ready

let’s do this

hi guys all ready welcome to we’re ready

we’re ready okay we’re going now okay hi

guys welcome to peace established my

name is David this is Jeremy in this

video we’re gonna talk about the

cheapest medium format camera you can

get and it’s a really good one and why

you should get it and if that’s right

now it’s $1,000 off so to start we’re

gonna take a look at its thumbnail real

quick this is a G of X 50 our 50

megapixel medium format camera it’s

$1,000 off right now so before I talk

too much into it Jeremy just give me

your feeling this camera what you know

about it and why you think it’s a good

price to wear good camera to get at this

price okay so little story back there

when I was shooting a Microsoft campaign

Fuji frame was sponsoring that and they

bring in a 50s well GFX PBS in a GFX 50

ow let me choose which camera they want

to ship um so I don’t know what I look

at that 50 outside I want that one I

don’t know what to tell tell you but

whenever when you put those two cameras

side-by-side

I make a fifty out is that they just

looked on to good holding it yeah for

sure

and just just so that everyone knows

what Jeremy is talking about is there’s

actually two medium format cameras in

Fugees line of cameras let’s go to there

can actually oh yeah there’s three right

you’re right Julia fix one hundred with

the top of mine without 100 megapixel

yes that’s right so these are all the

cameras they have this is the GFX series

we got this GF next 100 which is

actually more than 100 mega pick so they

just round it off so it looks nice we

got the GFX you don’t want to call it

fuji at G of X 100 point two three four

no you don’t wanna do

one point five this actually yeah what

do you think what do you think is it

make a picture I mean the 100 to

something onion to you can’t go over

whoever gets the closest it doesn’t go

over wins 102 point for I I think it’s

fun again – I knew it I knew what you

wait why they’re two point four hey at

least I could have lasted you right all

right fine but I say you can’t go over

so you you still lost anyway so that’s a

GFX 100 that’s 100 put and 2-megapixel

they should call it the GFX 102 that

sounds pretty cool

but anyway what Jeremy was talking

earlier Apollo trendy a lot too is

called 50 even though dead 51 okay so so

here here’s okay so oh you ain’t no I

can’t we can’t challenge you in that

what a Bennigan’s I was and I was but

you already obviously know anyway so the

GFX 50s and she effects 50 ours what

Jeremy was just talking about right so

when you were shooting the commercial

you had the opportunity to shoot one of

these cameras on loan because you were

doing a professional commercial and they

wanted really high quality image and you

had a choice between the 50s and a 50

are they did a you know they get up we’d

offer recording while I was shooting so

they want me to you know hold a camera

they let me choose which one even though

the 50s the s is that stand for studio

is for studio use yes I still pick the

for rangefinder yes yes well I believe I

mean I mean I could be wrong but I think

this is the only medium format wind

finder camera in the world I think so I

think so only Fuji film is crazy enough

to do something like that

mmm-hmm yeah for sure

yeah and the funny thing is both these

cameras have the exact same sensor so

the image quality is exactly the same

but the crazy thing is and why we’re

making this video is the 50 R is $1,000

then the 50s right now and that’s

because it’s on sale and I’m gonna be

clicking the link right here I think

it’s also more data that was like we

check on the 50 as I things cost more

than really okay yeah check oh just

right because normally the price is off

by a thousand dollars right mm-hmm

because 50 hours already bird they

always general prices are way cheaper

than 50 yes already it’s now way now is

it now that doesn’t that off I’m not a

high percent sure on that see I told you

know it’s always two thousand oh yeah

cheaper I told you man oh there’s only

one left dude whoever wants it this is a

really good deal for a medium format

camera because normally HUJI film sells

it for forty five hundred dollars which

is a thousand dollars cheaper than the

of that so it’s only thirty five hundred

for a medium format camera this is

actually cheaper than like a full-frame

camera from Canon right the 1dx mark

three costs $500 but that most of the

toe the line full-frame camera yes it’s

pretty it’s cheaper than most of top

online full-frame camera except this is

Fujifilm camera so it’s not just any

brand is fuji film a well-respected

brand that has a lot of quality in their

camera but they make a medium format

camera that you can get for $3500

brand-new on amazon right now

that is crazy and again save is that

pixel save feature these two cameras are

identical in performance everything is

the same the only thing different is

this is me for the the SMA for studio so

that they have a little bit bigger grip

and it has a typical it’s a ever more

superior will find her

yeah so we’ll find out on top is you

actually flipped on the top so if you

like a tall photographer you don’t have

to knit all the way down rather than

just kind of up to it yeah well for

studio use but yes yeah and I think one

one of the things about

the 50s is I think the screen has one

more axis of flip out I think in

addition just slide out like remember

actually you flip out to do like

portrait flip oh yeah yeah but the 50

are does not have it so here are some of

the pictures of the 50s so the S is

bulkier because see the S is if you get

it is actually making the X h1 style

which has LC o LC D on top of it ah yes

you’re right it X H 1 so if you compare

like the top view this is the 50 are it

this actually looks like a compact

camera though actually don’t even

smaller it’s yeah it’s still big it’s

big brick it’s just its size really

small it’s funny because it kind of

misleads you because I think I’m

thinking of my Micro Four Thirds camera

and when I look at this but it’s

actually big it’s it’s a good sized

camera for sure but again this is the 50

R this is the 50s you can see there’s

different agronomics the shape of it it

weighs almost the same the 50 R is a

little bit lighter but you’re not going

to trade off the weight and that’s not

going to be a fabulous there the body

beauty cell is millenium so it’s yeah it

has a way on it so it’s dual card yes

both of them have dual card now the one

thing that actually I noticed that I

don’t like so much about the 50 R is

that if you use it in the studio you

usually have a tripod right and tripods

usually have a pretty big tripod plate

now notice this what what do you think

is in there well that’s why that’s the

battery Wow

yeah yeah so you can’t really know yeah

you’re right

you can’t you can’t replace a battery

while it’s all hooked up and also guess

what’s in the under this flap I forgot I

play with it once and things over USB

and stuff right it’s a USB so if anyone

wants a shoot tethered in a studio is

kind of tricky be shoot tethered with

the 50 arm because it’s there’s a chance

of gravity just pulling down the cable

that’s it were having that’s one reason

why I got on sale because this camera

for medium format when people bought

this yes for commercial use yeah and

most people using studio and what this

camera bill is for style so you know to

the studio photographers they probably

not gonna go for this one yeah I like to

be different yeah I mean ultimately I

don’t want to hold a second camera

without a person if I can buy something

different I will buy something different

I mean that’s the ask so made in Japan

it’s a good yep it is a darn good camera

this is all about nice

I actually I would prefer to fit the are

because it’s $2,000 cheaper than the 50s

now I mean that alone it’s just there’s

no reason why to get the 50s unless you

have so much money that $2,000 is worth

the the battery placement in the USB

placement right because literally it

comes down that plus the grip and then

the viewfinder but other than that for

me say you go go buy yourself some

external grip is easy yes sure sure it

would even make the camera even better

yeah you get if you get the JFX

are and you get the grip it might even

look better I don’t know what the third

part crypts look like but I like this

look it looks very slim minimalistic it

looks unique and like you said it’s

different than anything else and it’s

medium format which is even more crazy

right because it looks like okay so for

the 50 ass yeah you go back to the

pictures imagine you bring that thing

out right on the street airing that okay

this is what Nolan’s imagine with a

lance in one of it this fit is it could

be a beast

yay you’re walking around with this not

gonna happen it’s so big dude you will

get flagged down by security just

holding it they think it’s a weapon

sometime like so what it alright

oh I’ve had I have I you know when I

carry two cameras on the side like a

cowboy I’ve done sucking takes from

security just checking me out as I go

into the lobby mode Elvis yeah oh no

what you have those fingers yeah yeah

what are you carrying oh they you know

that we carry because nobody that time

yeah yeah I get I get a lot of second

looks but anyway we’re off topic yeah

you’re right

this one is more big and bulky

definitely something you want to carry

outside you’ll get notice a little bit

too much and this is slimmer more

profile not quite so good for studio use

because of the battery compartment USB

but you’re saving $2000 for the exact

same okay first so you have to

understand the nature and culture of

Fujifilm though they don’t make

full-frame camera okay yeah now mum

let’s save me by our fire yeah I should

bring it out for casual use as well cos

you know this point you know right yeah

yeah yeah

so I mean it’s overkill to use casual

use but you know it’s small enough that

you could yeah that what medium format

the reason why this 50 I’ll for me at

least I feel like that exists because

they want to make it more user friendly

it’s not always for profession because

if you think about as a perspective from

a camera manufactory do you even make

your marketing and do your math and

research is there more professional

photographer or people just want to buy

camera out there I would say baby ten

percent of people are professional

ninety percent I just want my camera so

which audience want to go for honestly

right right right yeah I forgot the fact

that the majority of people that can

afford cameras they’re usually not

photographer first that’s not funny

i speaking of which here’s a quick segue

to your friend ken he’s also a film ex

photographer he left a good very key

fact that we totally missed the 50 are

is using a USBC port whereas the 50s

uses USB a 3.0 that’s actually that’s

why I’m up here talking you know what

you you on live with us next time yep

and he also says all GFX has a

full frame format but with all medium

format features like dynamic range oh

okay yeah I wanted to calm it down to

full feminine you realize

right now that makes a huge difference

okay yeah yeah that is pretty cool and

then you know you can you marked it

right will defeat the out and mount

other excellent six-month thanks on it

and just convert it to the full frame

with the dynamic range fun the meaning

on that Matt mmm that’s insane yeah yeah

plus you have one camera now that you

can use all your X mount lenses and I

think with the adapters you might even

be able to put Nikon and Canon lenses –

I didn’t research that so don’t quote me

on that but believe they make adapter

yeah I don’t know but all the focus

would be look-alike yeah not sure anyway

now now that we got the two different

cameras on the line and you’ve used a

camera right you use the 50 mark before

how do you like it what’s your

perception about it do you recommend it

why do you think is a good investment to

have I probably not the best person to

ask this question because Jamie if every

camera is the same honestly all I need

is EPS top shutter I asked I’ll wipe out

this whole thing and it will okay like

take a pictures so you ask me what’s so

good about it

yeah I feel good holding it

it’s car like you know you drive me a

car it’s for you to go to destination a

to B right yeah but while you’re driving

you’re having fun with it I think that’s

more important yes yeah

it’s unique and you definitely enjoy it

and that sets it apart from you know its

experience in the end its experience

it’s exactly like you said like driving

a car or driving a car that you really

like right any car will get you from A

to B but using a medium format camera

that’s unique and it it puts you on a

whole different level it’s just more

exciting to have that’s pretty much

actually I’ll do that I have a little

story because I thought I did test in

San Francisco City Hall yeah I bought

the pro light the LED light I have was a

Costello like Stella poor like yeah well

the testing and using a 50-hour for

testing I was walking around you know

how City Hall they have a low Fatah

they’re shootings you’re right yeah I

was shooting with the 50 out 110 F 2 and

alpha tougher come by and I they don’t

know what kind of camera that is I was

like having fun trying to explain to

them yeah yeah like that you know it’s

actually bigger ya know yeah

conversation opener to those fun yeah

and for someone like me I’m a gear

fanatic they often refer to me as gear

acquisition syndrome or short gasp yeah

so I love I love yeah I need tums

I love cameras like this it’s unique put

some some something new in my arsenal Oh

Kenny you also mentioned that the AF is

a bit slow for sure but SIL okay

and Ken Ken is absolutely right and

that’s just because it uses the contrast

or phase detection autofocus that’s not

as modern as what you find in the XT 4

for example but it’s so good because in

professional commercial photography or

professional landscape photography where

you actually want to use a medium format

camera you don’t need the super fast

autofocus right well you think about

what type of super fast photography you

would do but nowadays right fashion or

wedding or bird no you don’t you don’t

do that fashion I mean okay fashion we

say fashion is pub right catwalk right

basically capture something so catwalk

um ballgame mm-hmm oh the Jonah’s own

wedding I think yeah all right yeah all

the other you don’t need fast focus

period if you special report pictures or

studio use you think this is low have

you tried to face1 face1 oh I never

tried a bit it is so hard to focus I

thought it was I can’t even get a shop

in focus image yeah yep oh also can also

mention yeah with the adapter you can

convert EF lenses and other lenses as

well so thanks for confirming I can’t I

wasn’t sure I wasn’t percent sure but

you are expertise you should come on

this dream next time so you can actually

directly I don’t know yet but he’s

coming on this doesn’t know yet

that’s really funny so and also the one

thing that he mentioned also about the

autofocus one of the things that I

whoops whoo this is the interesting he’s

got another fact ken is hitting us with

that all the good facts I love this G

another do have fastest autofocus on the

medium foreign market whoa and now the G

of X 100 is even faster than oh yeah

I’ve seen that yes this is a media

format we’re talking about we’re talking

about a whole different ballgame so when

you compare you can a lot of people

compare that with a full frame camera

which is what we just did yeah which is

not legit cos you know minimum so but

you recon Amala pentek’s yeah how’s

about phase one you know the other

medium format camera compared to Fuji

see Eric’s line GFX line is the best

medium format

Milas camera there is I’m focusing to

the imaging quality and the feature and

functionality in also shooting

experiments because they I said I think

the only other one that comparable with

is I’ve got what the model is the newest

how’s about one the newest how about

mirrors that one is slightly comparable

with what the GFX line is but if we

compare that like the face one or the

other one that 1 X 1 D 2 could you see

this why is that yeah because look at

the model number man look at this camera

so unattainable

it’s also good to two extreme we’re

talking about spending only $3,500 for a

medium in this yep excite is still

better there those oh that’s what you

mean yes and that that’s crazy because

we’re talking about camera that costs

more hey but and again focus this is

only 50 eyelid it was G epics 100

Candace

right it’s fast xtp and you know how

fast my ex TV focus yeah so can you

imagine how usable oh that’s pretty

crazy

that’s you have everything you need a

frame way too fast focus metal it’s all

there

that is a workhorse camera right there

yeah for me it I mean I wanna have fun

that’s why I want to go with GFX 50 out

because it’s super affordable like a

like you know how I would say a five

years ago mm-hmm if it’s helpful to buy

me my mat they’re like oh you crazy man

it’s expensive I let those collectors of

really rich people can agree to afford

it right or if you be like huge

commercial jobs and whatnot

but now everybody can afford this medium

format it’s gonna get one like that yes

it opens the door for getting your feet

into the medium format and a very good

one I mean it’s it’s it’s on a whole

different ballgame and it’s a great

camera that has a lot of very high

inspector for sure this is how this is

how I see this trend right now you know

how bad when digital photography has it

when frame has it and digital photo

comes in the FIFA topper that Hawkins

with al teaching photography is for fun

and then when a mirrorless camera comes

in and here’s our people though yeah

those are toys there’s not even

professional look at out by way now so

imagine if the medium format is

affordable everybody when you have a

taste of the medium format sensor

another technology allow

like 40 fx100 we’re dumbing down all the

technology keep all the other new

upcoming medium format camera had as its

focus and then yes now why would you

want to do full frames again no so this

is probably like a new generation of

like camera coming in to replace all in

full frame users yeah he was doing me

there’s their head at the game for sure

they might not catch on for a year

– but you can get one right now at

$3,500 of medium-format and just get in

the game and start building your GF

let’s line up – and experience the

luxury of medium format which it

typically has a creamier bouquet a

shallower depth of field and just much

higher megapixels and your picture so

you could print a big poster pictures 50

megapixel Holly megapixels these are

huge files for the purpose of commercial

work where you can print like billboard

size pictures and you also get amazing

dynamic range as well so there’s a

secret why people you speed up foam at –

why is that this so uh if you look at

all the famous photographers back then

okay if I’m film – whatever again even

though those pictures that they produce

it’s perfect composite right it’s not

coming out of compositions perfect yeah

they don’t do that at shot big profit

like all the famous for cover

they crop your pictures so that they

have the perfect composition okay with

the medium format with automatic so you

can for all you want and get that

perfect just a lot of people say can I

write in camera that is something to

fool people with even the master

photographer big they crop they post

process everything okay do you think

answer and um picture look like that out

of camera I don’t think so no I I think

there’s definitely a science and arts

are appreciating to getting that one

perfect picture versus you want to get

in camera perfection to the greatest

automated sense when you’re shooting an

event and you’re shooting thousands of

pictures right you you want to just get

the best you can in camera but when you

are working on a photo for weeks months

getting it just right to submit to a

contest and do it there’s no question

about it they’re gonna tweak the heck

out of it to bring a great photo to the

next level I mean that’s what I think

and not to discredit Ansel Adam if he

actually got that out of camera just

don’t know he can you talk about it oh

yes I love it okay good good he’s I

don’t know about me to write somewhere

but I think he said that uh

vision cannot able to capture by the

camera so he did do it in post

okay so again that’s another secret with

medium format you have tons of

megapixels so you can crop edit and you

have dynamic range so you can adjust the

colors and the color dynamics without

losing quality so it puts you at the

same level as capable of producing these

amazing artwork of course you can always

take beautiful or wearing pictures with

any camera but just this is luxury and

you pay a bit more for luxury and let’s

actually dig a little deeper into the

GFX 50 R which is yeah that’s about 50

I’ll do that yeah while we keep going

off track it’s your for my part I mean

we want to talk about the 50 R because

it’s a 15 megapixel medium format camera

you get for $1000 off which brings the

price down to only $3,500 which is

$2,000 off the 50s which actually has

the same exact sense okay okay if you do

if we do it one more favor I promise I

won’t go after any more sure can you

check on the price of the new Sony a7r

camera and see no because Sony a this is

a full frame for more mi it’s a bullring

I think the newest version is for I

don’t think they had the four out yet

no it’s out oh it is three thousand

bucks so it’s a little bit okay this is

a Memorial Day sale

I think the retail price is $3,500 so

that’s just yeah it’s a same price so

there’s like a short term sales there

but yeah so no one price is $3500 that

you’re right right on the money in fact

this is that and in fact the same thing

with the Canon 5d Mark for same price

$3,500 now is that 61 megapixel but then

you’re acquiring 61 PAC megapixel in a

full-frame so that’s a huge different I

mean you can just look at it number on

the service it’s it’s not the same

you’re getting less dynamic range and

you’re introducing more noise when you

have that many small pixels compared to

wife yep I mean so this is really cool

bit like with the same pride if you get

a full four

I’ll get a media moment yeah and a

stylish one and with arrangement you

find there yes

let’s check a look at the G of X 50 our

beautiful camera it’s a range file

rangefinder style camera so what does

that mean Jeremy what’s a range finder

style camera so when you find a camera

meaning that the wheel phone is on the

side on the left not in the middle not

in the center so why centered that that

is like dsl like what’s this dsl stand

for single lens with that right so you

have a mirror in front so that’s why

you’re will find it has been a mirror

because yeah where the mirror is in

front of the sensor so it flips and you

will find it we affected by that so

that’s why the woman is always in the

centers but with weights finder back

then the way they let you see in a wheel

manner is different and they we take

that I mean back then it’s also using

lens to effects but now as ebf so but

they keep that format so you will have

that vintage retro style which is make

it more stylish yeah and all on top that

if you train yourself if you shoot with

your white eye in the will finder your

lap I can actually see the reality out

there

yeah and especially if you’re shooting

at what 35 millimeter it’s actually the

real focal length between your eyes and

other eye right so even more virtual

simulation or more unique simulation to

say but definitely interesting to have a

rangefinder camera because it’s a

different experience so let’s see what

Fuji has to stay here so Fuji film has

continued to develop and manufacture

medium format film cameras the priority

has always been to achieve premium image

quality the GFX 50 R is a rangefinder

style which has been reborn through the

history of medium format cameras just

like medium format film cameras in the

past the GFX 50 R has been developed a

pursuit of a compact lightweight system

while delivering the ultimate pitch

quality for everyday snapshot and street

photography this new can this new model

expands the potential of the GFX system

and makes medium format output even more

accessible

yes so here’s like your successor 50.1

megapixels g mount so you got styled

right so just like medium format film

cameras in the past the GFX 50 R has

been developed I already read that you

already read that

yeah in the pursuit of skipper yes in

pursuit compact and lightweight system

again while delivering the ultimate

picture quality so let’s learn more

about the style shall we

style it’s the wingtip a new style yeah

it’s look at that it’s a toughness yes

so you know like one thing that you

touched on a long time ago and one of

our other videos when people asked you

what makes a camera professional one of

them was toughness right because normal

day to day you don’t need toughness but

when you are out there shooting it

against the elements and putting your

camera down picking it up maybe dropping

it bumpy here there you want something

that’s robust right so with the GFX 50

are definitely a professional camera

it’s that’s resistant is weather

resistance and it’s freeze proof to

negative 10 degrees Celsius pretty

awesome right so this is a really good

landscape atop 4-foot landscape of copy

– yeah give it a lake being a medium

format which is lighter – what water up

to the hill yeah I go to extreme

location yes it still works because

that’s the most important thing you

gotta have a camera yeah won’t freeze up

on you wake it’s cold so here’s how they

accomplish it right so the GFS 50 R uses

a magnesium alloy camera body and this

body is dust and water resistant while

also being able to withstand low

temperature despite carrying a large

image sensor their camera is compact

lightweight and extremely durable the

GFX

they are rangefinder style design

weighing just 775 gram makes it

externally compact and lightweight

despite being a medium format digital

camera especially when fitted with a

compact lens the weather seals on the

inside of the camera means it is made to

withstand dust and moisture and low

temperatures that makes a perfect choice

for a wide range of tough strudy

situations as well as in studio studio

yeah so like you said right

landscape photographers going up into

mountains

or where it’s tropical it’s very humid

or in the desert where it’s blowing with

sands and everything you want something

that can handle the extreme conditions

for your professional quality work and

of course if you want to use in the

studio you can she can’t yep the

personal choice yeah also the feeling

right because this is Fuji film we’re

talking about

they precisely engineer everything

they’re obsessed we’re making the best

satisfaction experience they can provide

to their users so the body texture and

the dial based operation right just the

texture you can even see the texture

here where you find quality texture you

can feel the premiumness of it and you

got the classic dials which I love

because it brings back the nostalgic the

retro feel of taking cameras taking

pictures with cameras again so the

compact and lightweight gfx body is

designed with attention to detail to

achieve advanced functionality and

elegance at the same time examples of

this can be seen in the optimized shape

of individual components surface

textures of the magnesium aluminum body

and the use of rubber material for a

more comfortable grip operation dials

including the shutter speed dial are

milled out of aluminum blocks for a

premium texture yeah

extra attention has been given to the

internal structure and fine adjustments

have been applied to individual

operations as evidently like the quick

sensation and sound the more you use

this camera the more comfortable it

becomes I remember like when I was

turning the dial it just the sensation

is that like you said like you just want

to keep click click click all the time

even though you know that just you just

want to kind of play with it yeah yeah

fidgeting it feels so good so let’s go

back we went through the style right so

that’s talking about the core right so

in the core of this camera it’s a fifty

one point four megapixel medium format

CMOS sensor and it couples that with the

X processor pro image processing engine

I don’t know how powerful that Expo

processor pro image processing is it’s

gonna be pretty powerful to handle

medium format you got a lot of pixels to

push around so here’s here’s what they

say oh also the image sensor is unique

too right so the GFX 50 are features

this huge CMOS medium format sensor a

product of Fuji films rich history

cutting edge digital technology and

extensive knowledge of medium format

film cameras boosting an effective

resolution of 51.4 megapixels and paired

with the high performance G F lenses the

sensor delivers superior tones and

sharpness that will impress professional

photographers shooting in the world of

commercial fashion and landscape

landscapes yep

and look at that this look at this size

this is a comparing the medium format

with the full frame format with the crop

sensor aps-c so this

with the purified memory format

full-frame yes if you have six in one

megapixel in it

and the Fuji G format the medium format

has 51 I mean just look at this ratio

comparison you know yeah you know the

deal is right yeah yeah you don’t just

cram a lot of pixels into a full format

you want to have a lot of pixels in a

bigger sensor so they’re spaced up

spaced out there less prone to cross

noise cross was a cross

yeah it’s noise between the sensors

being so close to each other I don’t

know how the Fuji as a plaintiff route

in between well not actual cover up like

the aps-c and also medium format yes I’m

begin yeah it’s pretty funny because

like we said like Fuji film most popular

best-selling professional cameras are

aps-c s because they don’t make

full-frame cameras they don’t make me

full frame cameras period they just

don’t so instead of making full frame

format biggest went above and beyond to

a whole different place and go medium

format because they can’t yeah and you

have the two extreme because they

finance the heck out of the aps-c format

because they’re xe4 which is the best

selling camera to date that people use

for professional wedding event

photography for everything comparable to

Nikon Canon Sony and other brands for

professional work that our full-frame

yet fuji film has a crop sensor and it

competes just fine in the same category

as the other full-frame sensor so when

they decided well let’s make another

camera they didn’t go to make a full

frame they went for a medium format so

let’s talk about the optimal sensor

design optimized sensor design so both

the shape of the light-gathering micro

lenses and the processing from the photo

diodes have been optimized to achieve a

high level of char

yes and broad dynamic range the lowest

native ISO sensitivity of 114 stops of

dynamic range wow that’s a lot chemichi

what it’s yeah that’s that’s really good

dynamic range and it’s achieved with 40

bit raw data so again that’s a lot of

data these files are gonna be pretty

beefy it delivers high-definition images

in a variety of conditions with notably

rich skin tones and intricate foilage

detail yeah that just makes my mouth

water because I’m such a tech guess

again

I’m getting gear acquisition syndrome

okay gasps and $3,500 this is quite the

camera oh we got some comments on Emma’s

alive so his the username is B he says

wait wait wait most affordable

affordable $3,500 is my mortgage my

dudes so he also comments or he or she

also comments could you guys be more

detail about how premium feels in

England they pronounce it aluminium well

I guess I can’t I can’t say it in

English because I don’t know but just

some trivia so he asked a question and

maybe you can answer this how could

could you explain in more detail how

premium feels premium feels okay for

example if you are going to a hotel room

and you open the door and you find that

there’s no kickin sois when you open it

it just smooth we closed it there is no

sound when go into the door you open it

you basically just kind of touch it up

it and it just open it and when you push

back the door back it it would close it

by itself right rather you hear those

equally those count key key sound when

you open it that’s what I talked about

with the the Fuji 50 out Jeff X script

yeah when you play with it you change

the dial

you know some of those non tasks premium

ones that you will kind of feel that you

give it a turn couple time and

everything you click doesn’t really just

adjust you know it just turn but for the

fifty out when you turn you don’t have

to look at it like sometimes you have to

look at your LCD that what episode my

end right so if you know you’re on f1

point for it just click like you know

there’s two stuff so it’s it’s that

movement in there and also the solid

fielding holding the body yes I’ve been

shooting with xt3 and it’s a small light

body but when you’re holding the fifty

out you know when you’re holding a body

that has a certain weight and also it’s

sort late– we’re holding on it pass all

the dials and LCD everything in the

shutter it just come together as you

know this we won’t break you just want

to touch it more and more and more it’s

correct when you feel that those nice

door you want to keep open it like cuz

when you go back home you don’t get the

same feeling right yes explains it

that’s how I felt like I am so I don’t

know I explained it well but that’s how

I felt I think it’s a great explanation

I’ve never actually heard it that well I

mean I think a premium and I just think

that that’s a luxury that I want but I

never actually sat down to quantify like

what does it feel like why is it premium

I just know that if I pay more I will

enjoy it more because it’s premium but

you’ve really quantified it as a good

example like the door or the drawers in

the fancy hotel room yeah it’s more one

more like a slipper

you know those cheap zippers zippers

they always break but there’s when you

buy those Olivia luxury bags those

zipper with you you hear the sounds of

different yes ha let’s move you know

that’s one that’s what we’re talking

about here yes

yeah because because those zip which are

machine to precision right everything

lines up just perfect so when you glide

along it it’s very consistent they

engineered a sound yeah that makes right

they actually test it to see how it

sounds like that’s how precision they

want to make it and to some people it

doesn’t matter because they just want a

camera that works or they want a zipper

that works or a bad

decency / but when you have money you

spend or when these are the gear that

makes you a ton of money that earns your

bread and butter income then you want to

enjoy when you’re working with these

things and you want a camera this is for

camera and photography lovers not

professional workers so we have to kind

of identify that because there’s a lot

of people who collects camera right they

buy like like why you buy like guys it

costs so much right yeah but but now

some people I just will kind of

justifies it is it really shooting

better pictures or is it really fun to

use it’s just a when you hold on to it

is that luxury feeling that you have

you’re holding a Leica yeah right

it’s basically is it head may I forgot

it it’s like a camera and I think some

of them are maybe like a special edition

but let me see le I see cameras and me

it’s er D handmade

they are many like a cameras most

notably the m10 are hand me see that

y-yeah this that that’s like the

ultimate definition of premium like when

you are hand making each one its

previous craftsmanship Ashman ship and

in a way even though Fuji is not with

the Germany company like they’re like

that come occurs like is be that long

history it’s kind of like you know do we

[ __ ] you know uh you know cuz brand

but Fuji is you know newcomer but they

kind of it position them in that kind of

line to you compared to like a non Nikon

and Sony you think about it because they

go with the style that go with push

mashup it goes the luxury for you as

well they from their logo a PSD camera

to be a moment they go the same style as

well so that’s why I like them luxury

and with luxury not only does it have

luxury it’s got performance and now we

take our processor right so check us out

this is the X processor pro quo yeah the

food yukl is it yeah I mean this is the

pro cameras you gotta have the pro

sensor with the programmer right so the

G of X 50 are sports the X Pro process

sorry

sports the extra processor Pro image

processing engine oh gosh capable of

drawing the very best out of the 51

point four megapixel sensor its advanced

processing accelerates and optimizes the

camera’s performance in a variety of

areas including stunning color

reproduction with Fuji films unique film

simulation modes in camera to the 8-bit

TIFF format accurate contrast autofocus

quick startup time minimal shutter

release time lag and shutter and

shooting intervals between frames like

it’s the this sentence is like the

longest but it’s just advanced right you

got a processor that can

handle all of this stuff and it needs to

be a performance processor that can

handle a lot of stuff because you’re

jamming like film simulation modes raw

conversion auto focus contrast detection

startup time as fast minimal shutter

speed minimal release time like all that

so the processor can again I can tell

you that way not just on the film cinema

nation mall in camera yeah and the

confession to a bit tip yeah that takes

a lot yeah normally a normal sense we

can’t even handle those together yeah I

mean it’s funny to think about it this

this chip is probably bigger than the

the first computer that they had in a

spaceship that we flew to well that’s a

long time ago so you have to find a fits

inside camera now and before you have

like all the equipment on a space

shuttle but anyway we digress so the

mounts right we’re talking about the G

mount now now this this this part here

the first time I read it I thought okay

it’s a spec but listen very carefully

because this spec is actually really

interesting so mmm the Fujifilm GFX v ER

uses the G bound

alright so which has a mountain of 65

millimeter flange back distance of

twenty six point seven millimeter and a

minimum back focus distance of sixteen

point seven okay so not just a spec but

check this out so it uses as many as 12

electronic contact point for sending and

receiving data plus it supports the use

of a wide variety of lenses and

accessory okay more spec okay but this

is this is the part that’s cool right so

this is the part that that was amazing

the short back focused distance made

possible because the fuji fields merely

systems structure affords greater

freedom in lens design to contribute to

the development of fast compact and

high-performance GF lenses while

preventing vignetting to deliver edge to

edge sharpness so I thought it was

really interesting because

the architecture it has right because of

the mere liske architecture you can put

the lens closer towards the sensor that

way the lens can have more sharpness

from edge to edge just because it’s

close to a sensor and normally you want

you weren’t you were not able to achieve

this with the old single lens reflecting

mechanism because because you have the

glass it flips up right so the length

has to be farther away from the sensor

and when it’s farther away from the

sensor now you can’t have the edge a

sharpness that you have with the

standard okay now sorry got all show

again but well yeah you look at the

chart again yeah I should really close

the lens with reading close to the

sensor right there I know right and then

I think it proven my other fever you

know how they have the other camera yeah

x1 IV yes which is excellent

yeah so all the fixed on camera I can

able to fit the lens really close to the

sensor and that’s why the cameras image

is superior shop is the same yes

because the fixed lenses that don’t even

let you change the lens they don’t have

to deal with a mount like this you know

precisely engineer make it my Lily in

one of the sensor the way yeah that’s

crazy yeah because you don’t need to

worry about having to move the lens if

you clean you it does gets it because

because is happy nice I could be wrong

but then the more distant away from the

lens to the sensor then there are more

things that will go wrong so you

minimize that distance between the lens

and the sensor so you minimize

everything the light won’t have to

travel anymore

err because any time that I travel more

than it degraded yeah exactly that and

again it’s a sharpness is far superior

without vanetti ultimately if it comes

in those two quantities pretty cool so

let we talked about the core we talked

about the style so now we also talked

about the image quality and well there’s

no question about that but but let’s

just read what Fuji has to offer and

what they tell about it because yes it

has a period

[ __ ] quality but it does it in a way

where when you read it you’ll actually

understand why the image quality is so

good so check this out

the GFX system delivers image quality

image quality among the best in the

industry it combines outstanding

resolution of a 51.4 megapixels with

exceptional tones advanced color

reproduction and high performance lenses

so that’s the bigger picture right so

now we talk about like what it can do so

we’re actually kind of running low on

time so we’ll just kind of glide through

it a little bit here because we’ve been

talking a lot about these these cameras

check this out we got different image

format you got four four three

you got five four you got seven six you

got one one you got three two you 16 by

crazy image format is it now how’s that

good that’s a good landscape

yeah by the 24 I wish you that it’s

pretty cool and of course the argument

people will say as well who cares

because why do you care that it has

different image format because you’re

always gonna shoot with the full medium

format sensor right then you can go home

and crop it whatever way you want yes

that’s true but there’s value in having

the image preview in the crop that you

already want because then you can frame

the image on the spot and that’s

different then shooting it so and it

looks nice then go home and crop is like

oh that didn’t look the way that I

wanted to look when your crop it because

the details aren’t there when you crop

it at that level so very cool to be able

to preview your image in the image for

format ratio that you want that’s true

yep and one thing that I believe and I

can’t be quoting a hundred percent this

because you have to read the million to

make sure but I think if you shoot raw

plus JPEG what happen is is

the preview the preview that you get is

the exact image format that you specify

but the raw is actually the full raw

without the crop so when you go in

post-processing

you can decide to recap it if you want

that’s why they call it uncompressed of

raw oh okay so you’re right

sorry sorry I just I just wanna cover my

butt right what anyone say anything that

I wasn’t sure but you’re right it has

uncompressed raw so when you shoot it

raw you have the full one and I think

what happens is it’s tagged with the

image format that you select it as a

JPEG that way you can go back and say oh

yeah I tagged this as like sixteen by

nine so you remember the crop is 16 by 9

or you can change it a post but at least

we know we’re shooting your preview was

in a sixteen by nine so your vision is

when you’re framing you can frame well

in a way you think about it because when

you have those kind of format and then

you change it and then you also apply

those film simulation in there yeah you

already have a brief crop already

stylized for in-camera yeah here you’re

done your job is done

yeah at least 95 percent right it’s got

the look it’s got the framing so like

this is why I can mention earlier right

you got the 35 millimeter format mode so

if you want it can use the in your part

of the sensor it’s a full-frame part

it’s centered so you could crop image so

you can use the adapter so you use

x-series lenses from Fuji line or Canon

Nikon and you only manufacture what if

you have to write adapter but the cool

thing is or what Ken said where you use

a medium you keep yeah you would keep

the dynamic range of the medium filament

yeah that’s that’s a that blows our mind

right because oh sure and you use the

same lens as a frame camera but this so

now I have a full frame now you have

full frame but you have the dynamic

range of a medium format and you can

still use all your full frame lenses so

okay there’s more reason for me to find

out that only one on Amazon right now

yeah there’s only one I mean look at it

right there is a gun yeah I don’t want

to refresh it oh I think it’s gone oh no

it’s this there’s only one left so okay

yeah but if i refresh it it might go

away let me see

so if I wait what that’s crazy

there’s 10m wait do they know that we’re

talking about it though they put more up

maybe maybe well there’s only ten left

still that can go really quick but

anyways it seems like someone I think

what happen is someone bought the last

one and then Amazon brought the next

manufacturer oh right because they had

another manufacturer so the last one

actually if we go back we might see that

old manufacturer all right we can’t see

anymore yeah now they changed some what

about the last one they probably bought

it there in this livestream so hey if

you bought it during last you put

somebody in comments and we know that we

yeah please come on before this yeah

influence you to buy the camera and you

definitely made a great choice you’re

gonna love this camera absolutely lovely

how much the combo with the 63

millimeters 2.8

this one I didn’t say huh yeah it does

see you said oh it’s unavailable uh yeah

so you can buy you can buy it you can

buy separately right so this is the lens

itself so if you add thirty five hundred

to fifteen hundred thousand yeah you buy

this one use two lenses are great to buy

used by the way because like unlike

cameras you can actually violence and

within a day you can test it you can

shoot and you’ll know right away vis

that’s a combo this way there are five

thousand dollar with the camera of the

lens and extra Bala weeks that’s a big

deal

well yes this is this is this combo is

just a makeshift combo it’s just adding

the pieces together you’re not getting a

discount because oh yeah but well we

have $2,000 on that thing yeah so yeah

right so yep image quality you got a

good eye so we’re talking about 100 to

believe yeah up to 100 mm for 100 crazy

extended range you got white balance

features here you can adjust it now what

I really like and what Fuji is really

known for is the film simulation and

when Jeremy says earlier because

basically film simulation allows you to

pretty much get the color perfectly in

camera so essentially you don’t have to

do any post processing work and the only

reason why people do post processing

work is because they can’t get their fat

they want in camera and normally like

with normal cameras you probably get

like a saturated mode or sepia mode a

black and white mode but those are like

your generic modes but not these modes

that you have with this camera and these

these modes are very unique right

they’re developed with food on them off

a about them yes exactly

they’re the color reproduction of how

eighty years of Technology and knowledge

in the film manufacturing that Fuji film

Fuji builded emulation allows them to

reproduce yeah it’s not just film is the

way how Fuji used a frame to develop

it’s the special look yeah for sure yeah

you got all these different looks like

we can you spend hours going through

this but you can you can go to this

website for yourself you can see

they’re very unique differences right

for example the classic chrome and the

prone egg hi and the prosaic standard

you can see like the super high contrast

on your face here you can see the

standard contrast here that brings out

the natural skin tones right and then of

course there’s different black and white

modes and their sepia so you have a lot

of choices

now there’s one negative to this that I

should point out is the film simulation

as the cameras as newer cameras come out

they have the perk of having new film

assimilation like the xe4 has a new it

turned up bleach bypass that’s pretty

amazing to you so you do miss out with

it with this camera but you said you

never knows it might you know do a

upgrade on that they might but I would

not never know that because they don’t

seem like they’ve been doing it anyway

you also have an advanced image setting

for grain effect – mm-hmm so if you

wanted yeah this is different

no this is actually film quick film

quick it’s not just adding digital noise

of course what’s the difference between

these your noise and film grain did you

know it’s kinda square circle and they

are formulated kind of regularly same

way is a bit random and then they’re

fine line it’s basically time off findt

and kind of feathery yeah exactly and it

looks it looks more pleasing when you

talk about did your nose you know

because they should always looks like

noise right there’s a pattern it just

doesn’t look good but film grade it adds

to film grain adds to the texture of the

picture yeah they become a texture yeah

so you got the color chroma effect – if

you wanted to it provides the extra

boost of simulate saturated colors for

richer results so here it is off and

with it on it’s really punchy like it is

but then it won’t even go over as well

so that’s cool it’s tastefully done

mm-hmm yeah enhance the colors really

well in fact I think I like it more

because it also adds a bit of contrast

so you can really see the separation

between each pedal it does it got the

color got darker so yeah it do be a lot

more contrast

yeah you have other image quality

settings here and I think we are gonna

wrap up with one more section and let’s

see so we talked about we talked about

the range finder style we talked about

the core work image quality image

quality

I got mechanical and operation I guess

we won’t dig into these because we don’t

have a lot of time we’ll just read the

four main things here if you want to you

can click more to learn more there’s a

lot of stuff here so basically the

mechanical in this of it

basically you have a focal-plane shutter

that’s newly developed for medium format

mirrorless cameras right you’ve got a

super good shutter speed of one over

four thousand of course that is not the

fastest mechanism right but check this

out you got the electronic one that does

one over 16-thousand of a second that’s

crazy

sixteen thousand thousands of a second

or well I don’t know how to read that

one over sixteen thousands of a second

sixteen thousand yeah yeah one over

sixteen thousand there yeah

that’s locked yes that’s fast so I can’t

make that noise that fast and also you

got the good shooting voice I called the

shutting doors the fifteen thousand

shutter clicks right yep oh-oh-oh our

friend can tell has got some wise wisdom

to share

so ten else’s by using adapter for

third-party lenses with full sensor

cover you might need full frame lens

forty five millimeter up otherwise you

can go down to the 35 millimeter mode oh

wait hold on he lost me there wouldn’t

what did you mean by that I mean we

delegate

you can be oh I say what do you mean

okay okay yeah okay

yep that’s the interesting fact yeah

that’s why there’s two modes right if

you use a full frame mode you might get

some unique effect if the lens actually

has like a larger amount of glass that

normally would over set over overwhelm a

full-frame sensor but now it’s fully

captured by a medium format right

be nice but it seems like you banette

become because we have what sense on the

side

yes yeah yeah so but now if you do

notice of it yet then you probably want

to go to the 35-millimeter mode right so

that’s the benefit of going to

otherwise you can go medium format put a

full frame lines on there if you happen

to work it’s pretty cool right okay I

got a question

hey Kent if you’re still watching answer

me this

do you want to come join us on the next

one it was fun yeah come on alright well

we keep going until he answer see he

answered he also has one more comment he

says there is no XML adapter oh shoot

he’s so genius I totally messed this up

I forgot remember I said earlier you can

put X mouse lens on the G of X I lied

yeah that’s what aps-c thank you can I

look up I would have got burnt really

bad oh hey look at that yes yeah okay

we’ll make you walk with me all right

so pretty soon guys make sure you

subscribe to youtube.com slash picture

stabbers make sure you follow us on

Amazon and you tech me up because pretty

soon we’re gonna get Ken L who’s another

Fujifilm EXFO tog refer AKA Fujifilm

camera Basinger just like Jeremy but oh

yeah

in addition to my German actually he

taught me everything about Fuji so he’s

a man oh there we go

yes and he sees different than Germany

and I because you’re me i we have a

background a wedding and pre wedding

industries where is commercial

commercial fashion right so we have more

variety so looking forward to seeing Ken

on our next life right tell me soon all

right so we got mechanical we got

operation shoot we were talking so much

we’re writing on time here okay so I’ll

go with this real quick song yeah so

basically we got we got the Eevee

they’re talking about here so when you

look through that small range

rangefinder viewfinder you got a really

high quality EVF so this allows accurate

focusing despite the larger size of the

medium format sensor which usually has

really shallow depth of field that the

doesn’t have so that EVF really helps

you fine-tune your framing for sure and

maybe years you get the focus or make

sure you visually see your depth of

field so you can you can really frame

your shot better so you have

functionalities oh shoot I didn’t know

this this is the first model in the GFX

Sirius system to support bluetooth low

energy technology capture images that

can be transferred easily and quickly to

smartphones and tablet devices yeah if

it’s don’t have that this is pretty cool

because right we were talking about the

USB cable you might not even need to

that if you could transfer them quickly

to a device you might yeah right and the

last thing here to mention is the GFX 50

are offers various dedicated accessories

to construct a system that can respond

to detailed request of professional

users to professionals users can select

the solutions that’s the easiest to use

according to their shooting scenes and

methods so basically they have a bunch

of lenses and adapters for all your need

professionals own system yeah yep and

that pretty much wraps up like this

awesome

medium format camera that Fuji film has

to offer at a reduced price of $3,500

you can get one today

brand new shipped to your door free

shipping anyone by name okay champions

is Dylan but that’s only one laughing

stuff again

because I didn’t refresh this so if I

click this it’s probably going to show

me ten from Amazon because someone

bought that one yeah yeah yeah I want is

it because of us is I wouldn’t be

surprised so that in a shell covers this

video about why we think that gif

great camera because all the features

are $2 off and because it’s $1 off not

just because the price is cheap right

but also because it has all the features

that we talked about other premium

features are the high quality image all

the awesome sensor and the touch and

feel of the camera right plus nine

thousand dollars off which means it’s

two thousand dollars cheaper than the

GFX 50s which essentially has the same

sensor and operation functionality as

the GFX 50 are so if you’re looking for

medium format

there’s no cheaper medium format camera

on the market and this is by far the

cheapest medium format camera in market

that’s all the time because it’s a

winged finder style you don’t find

another medium format camera has quaint

finder style yeah Oh before we wrap up

we got a comment and oh he says when

affordable cameras are still too

expensive

ouch sorry my friend sorry my friend

yes when we talk about this affordable

camera we’re talking about affordable

medium medium moment right you guys you

look better history like go go search I

meet up on my camera and see how much

they really usually cost and then you

know why this is affordable yeah yeah

for sure back then if you can cause

around ten thousand dollars exact now

it’s pretty fine so you know yet thanks

yeah bye Jay is how you pronounce it we

should comment man there’s awesome I

make it oh he says oh okay right on man

right on I’m making your picture bigger

so I can put you in your official piece

of stabber we talk photography so so now

you understand why medium format cameras

affordable is $3,500 so thank you

everyone for tuning in to the live

stream we hope that helps clarify why a

medium format camera is something good

to have although it’s not perfect for

every shooting condition it’s definitely

nice to have and it’s definitely

necessary for some high

commercial photography and now with the

sales there’s no reason to get one if

you need one or if you want one because

you have gas your acquisitions think

maybe want to spend some money it’s from

gas I mean when you’re into photography

you first let’s say you start with

something cheap exponent [ __ ] and I wait

this out and then you gotta mirrors now

full frame and then you know if you with

a loving you wanna upgrade right the

next step it would be medium format so

that’s how the path go yep yeah and I

guess that wraps up our video so Jeremy

any last words before we wrap up the

video today if you guys go by that

medium format it’s only 10 left

save me one leave me a comment too we

really appreciate it if we we know who

bought the camera and we’ll be happy and

pleased to know that you bought a based

on our recommendation or review here

anyway thank you so much for watching

thank you for tuning in we hope this

video was helpful let us know if you

have any questions or comments below let

us know if you want any particular

content we would love to make videos or

anything photography related because

Jeremy you and I we love talking about

photography right yes just look guys
